Polysomnografie

definitie:

Oorzaken:
Tijdens een bepaalde tijd worden E.E.G. (waak-slaapritme), E.C.G., ademhalingsfrequentie, -activiteit en -flow, en zuurstofsaturatie geregistreerd (met soms daarbij ook pH-meting). Hiermee kan gedifferentieerd worden tussen centrale of obstructieve apnoes, cardiale of gastro-intestinale refluxproblemen.

Definities
Apnoe: de flow stopt gedurende meer dan twee ademhalingscycli
Hypopnoe: flow daalt gedurende twee ademhalingscycli meer dan 50%
O.D.-index: aantal O2 dalingen van meer dan 4% per uur slaap (normaal ≤ 5)
A.H.-index: aantal apnoe-events per uur slaap (normaal ≤5)
Apnoes worden verdeeld in centraal (de flow stopt gedurende twee ademcycli plus de afwezigheid van borst- of buikademhaling) en obstructief (de flow stopt gedurende twee ademcycli waarbij de borst en/of buikademhaling door blijft gaan.
